AN EVENING WITH JOHNNY CARR

Hello, and thank you for stopping by! My name is Josiah Carr, and I am the son of Johnny Carr. My dad taught music at Westmont Elementary School and Brookwood Elementary School in Columbia County for over 3 decades and impacted the life of thousands of children through the power of music and kindness. In addition to teaching elementary school music, my dad also taught at Augusta University and Augusta Tech as well as running various music and children’s programs at church. Johnny Carr also was also in several bands, wrote music in Nashville, wrote numerous musicals, and ran a recording studio out of our house for the full 18 years I lived at home and continues to record, write and play music to this day.

Music and loving others through music has been my dad’s gift to this world. I have spent the last decade building an event planning company and I am hoping to host a massive event in Augusta, Georgia later this year called “An Evening with Johnny Carr.” It will be an evening of music, kind words, and surprise guests all in one place to honor the incredible life of my dad. While my dad doesn’t love a surprise, I think this will be a life-changing evening for him to see and experience the dramatic impact that his music, his kindness, and his life has had on people.

In addition to the event, I am working on compiling a book of memories, kind words, thank you’s, and notes from as many people as I can reach. I would be so grateful for you to take a couple of minutes to write a few sentences to my dad about the impact he has had on your life. It can be a sentimental story, a thank you, a funny memory - anything. When writing, please write it “to” him (example: Mr. Carr, you have had a huge impact on my life because… / or: Johnny, thank you for….)

Lastly, because I am actively working on solidifying a date and location for the event, I don’t have that information to provide to everyone at this time. The event will be open to the public, and it would be amazing for as many people as possible to be there to honor what an incredible man he is. Feel free to include your email address below and I will send out an email updating everyone with the date and location once those details have been confirmed.

Please tell all of your friends, old classmates, and anyone else who may know him! I would love for this to be HUGE. And remember, for now, this is a secret/surprise for him. I imagine closer to the event I will have to let him know, but until then I would love to try and keep this as hush-hush as possible!
